Agribusinesses in Albania are growing thanks to the SmartCapital project – supported by USAID and implemented by local partner Creative Business Solutions. This initiative is helping agribusinesses increase their production and the quality of their products. Thanks to SmartCapital, one of these agribusinesses, Herba Fructus Natural, is today one of the largest exporters of medicinal plants in the US, with $ 2 million in revenue each year.
Assisting with the full IPARD funding application package for EU accession, as well as facilitating a $ 1.3 million loan from Intesa SanPaolo Bank, USAID assisted Herba Fructus Natural to make a $ 2.5 million investment to build a modern storage depots. Herba Fructus Natural is just one example of how USAID is helping Albanian agribusinesses achieve their goals.
